CHRISTMAS ANGELS - Inside Scoop

Audio

They always say write what you know, but I other than a mention of goats, or using my friend's name in the stories, everything is pretty much fiction. Well, if you've been following me for a while you might remember me rupturing my Achilles tendon a couple of years ago. It was a crazy story. I was alone, except for my two dogs, and I'd gone out to feed and water our horses. We'd just had six inches of snow overnight and it was so pretty. The only footprints were from the deer making their daily crossing.

Unfortunately, the snow was so deep that it camouflaged a trench beneath it and I stepped right into it. Up to my knee. It pitched me forward. My dogs thought it was game time! They leaped and played around me.

Unfortunately, the snow was so deep that it camouflaged a trench beneath it and I stepped right into it. Up to my knee. It pitched me forward to the ground. My dogs thought it was game time! They leaped and played around me.

By the time I got up to my knees, I knew something was wrong. I hopped over to turn off the water, then tried to limp...there was no limping that day. I got down on all fours and began the crawl to the house. It was a very long crawl. Maybe 300 yards, and it was freezing.

My experience that day, alone in the snow just trying to get to help, shows up in Christmas Angels. Now, don't you worry, I didn't let Liz end up with a ruptured Achilles. No. I couldn't do that to her, but it's never good timing to get hurt, and especially not in the middle of a project like the one Matt and Liz are working on. You'll be happy to know that I also gave Liz a wonderful support system. My friends were so helpful. Even in the middle of the snow, Marie and her husband came to my rescue. I'm forever grateful. Someday when we're together I'll tell you the whole story!

Grab a blanket, you're likely to get a little cold as you cheer Liz back to the cabin.

I'm in good shape now. No worries. It took over a year to heal from that surgery, and I did several book signings from my cute ruby red knee scooter that year. When life hands you a bad day....turn it into a book. xoxo
